Overview
Zozobra is a 2D platformer roguelite with procedural rooms. The player is ZOZO, a virus that has just landed on a computer and has to cross its five layers, infect its nodes and dodge the antivirus that watches everything.
Each layer adds its own rules and defences, and ends with a boss. The more the player infects, the more noise they make: the tension between pushing forward and being detected is the core of the design.
The project started in 2023. Its current version, built in Godot 4.7, began in September 2026 as an adaptation of the earlier project. It is in active development and has no release date yet.

Key features
- 01
Procedural rooms
Rooms change on every run. A fixed seed reproduces exactly the same run for testing or sharing.
- 02
Detection and SYSTEM ALERT
Every infection makes noise. If the detection meter fills up, the alert goes off and the whole system turns against the player.
- 03
Layered bosses
Bosses are not worn down with hits: you stomp them, they drop a node, and each infected node breaks one of their layers.
- 04
Ten playable malware
Each character has its own passive and play style, with progress saved between runs.
- 05
Trailers generated from the game
An autopilot plays and records the shots with Godot’s Movie Maker; a Python script cuts them with FFmpeg to the beat of the music, in 16:9 and 9:16.
- 06
Automated tests
Headless tests and self-tests that play through all five zones to the end, and every character with its passive.
